It's a wrap. After interviewing acoustic bassist Todd Nicholson and again William Parker, Billy Bang doc production complete

After shooting since November 2010, production is complete on the documentary about jazz violinist Billy Bang titled, Billy Bang: Long Over Due. Last interviews were with former Billy Bang acoustic bassist Todd Nicholson just back in NYC after over a year in Japan and again William Parker. Their words continued the tapestry of love, admiration, and knowledge of "Da Bang" that was huge in illustrating the mission set forth when Billy asked me to make this documentary, which is that he wanted this film to be like no other documentary. Bang wanted this film to be about how musicians work together from a mental and skill aspect, as one to make musical performances unique to the audiences who love the music and show their love and respect everytime they show up at concerts or buy cd's or collect albums. Unless, for some unforsaken opportunity to enhance this film, there will be no other interviews added. Archive collection od video and photos will continue for a few more weeks before the editing process begins.

John Lindberg Interviews For Billy Bang Long Over Due

At Columbia University"s radio station WKCR, acoustic bassist John Lindberg was interviewed for the Billy Bang documentary Billy Bang: Long Over Due. The interview was riveting and reminiscent of a time when improvisational music in the west village was in it's infancy. One third of The String Trio of New York, along with James Emery and Billy Bang, John was engaging and quite helpful in bridging the gap in the Billy Bang musical history as well as bowing techniques privy to string instruments.

Two new great interviews for Billy Bang Doc

As the saga of documentary filmmaking continues, two great new interviews were conducted over the weekend with former SunRa violinst Fiidla and trombonist/composer Craig Harris. These two gifted musicians were very informative and passionate about their relationship with Billy Bang and were all too selfless about sharing their experiences and what they came away from a musical and personal friendship with the Bang. The production process is more than 70% complete
